What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?

Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and create an overall sense of wellbeing.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity.  After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?

There are numerous types of massage and bodywork, and your therapist can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

Must I be completely undressed?

Spa-like massage sessions are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is up to you what you want to wear. You will be properly draped during the entire session, and you should undress to your level of comfort. For specialized treatments on the shoulder, hips, and legs, you are fully clothed.

Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?

No. Your therapist will leave the room while you dress down to your comfort level, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with the clean sheet and blanket.

Will I be covered during the session?

Therapeutic sessions are generally performed fully clothed due to the movement and stretching during the treatment. If you're scheduled for a relaxing massage, you will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

A typical spa full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. Abdominal work is performed upon request.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?

Prior to the massage, feel free to ask any questions about the techniques or the upcoming session. During the massage, your therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). During a Swedish Massage, many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

What if I fall asleep?

Falling asleep is common during a Swedish Massage and it’s the best compliment to give your massage therapist.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?

Yes. Before your session begins, it's imperative that we ask general health questions. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems, prior surgeries, accidents, and any medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

How many sessions do I need?

Depending on the severity of your condition, it could take several sessions to completely resolve your pain; however, many clients report some relief from their pain after the first session.  Keep in mind that you didn’t get there overnight and you’ve most likely been dealing with your condition for longer than you realize.  It may take a few times to unravel all the kinks.  You are your best advocate, and may be given homework and tools to assist you in your healing journey.  Our goal is to treat you in the fewest sessions possible.  Once we’ve addressed your chronic pain, this is usually a good time to schedule a relaxing Swedish Massage to reward yourself for all your hard work.

Do you take insurance?

No. However, if you've been involved in an auto accident, we will work with your auto insurance to possibly pay for your treatment.

What form of payment do you accept?  â€‹

We accept cash and credit cards.
